Book Reviews

Pupils are encouraged to recommend books they have enjoyed by submitting a book review to Mrs Menzies. This can be done by simply handing the review to Mrs Menzies or by completing an electronic book review through “Eclipse”, the LRC data management programme. Book reviews are also displayed on the board in the quiet reading corner of the LRC.

Two of our current S3 pupils, Lauren Dalgleish and Mhairi Rodden, and one S2 pupil, Lily Gonlag, have recently been invited to write book reviews for the Scottish Book Trust. The girls became involved following communication between Mrs Menzies, and Heather Collins from the Scottish Book Trust. The books they are reviewing are ‘White Crow’ by Marcus Sedgwick, ‘Prisoner of the Inquisition’ by Teresa Breslin and The London Eye Mystery by Siobhan Dowd. Lauren and Mhairi’s books are still at proof copy stage so the girls are stealing on a march on the general public. We look forward to seeing their reviews in print.
