Work Related Learning

Work-related learning is also core to the Initiative’s goals. This year all Third Year pupils are undertaking a week-long placement during the last week of January.

Fourth year leavers are also undertaking one or more placements during their final two terms, along with Sixth Years, many of whom have sustained relevant placements alongside their academic courses throughout their Sixth year.

Wallace Hall and its cluster primaries are piloting a group business mentoring scheme with certain targeted groups selected from P7, S2 and S4 pupils. The mentors were selected from volunteers from the local business community. They received initial training back in October and hope to start meeting with their matched pupils in January 2010.

It is proposed to double the mentor intake for 2010-2011, with a new intake receiving training in the spring.
